Sensing our past

Sensing Our Past was a large scale project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund which was completed in November 2014. The project had a number of different strands including reminiscence work with patients with dementia; the creation of a permanent archive of hospital photographs, memorabilia and audio recordings; the conservation of wood from the original ‘Eisenhower Tree’ as a key feature within the new Jubilee Building; the production of a permanent, major heritage screen designed by artist Chris Tipping inspired by the items and stories gathered for the archive, underlining the hospital’s significance to people living locally, nationally and internationally; and a publication, Celebrating 70 years, A pictorial history of Musgrove Park Hospital.

The publication is available to purchase from the League of Friends Shop and the Somerset Heritage Centre.
