Before surgery we will give you a special one-stop education session and assessment at Musgrove Park Hospital. You will be seen by the consultant, anaesthetist, dietitian, research nurse and bariatric specialist nurse as well as having blood tests, electro-cardio gram (ECG) and swabs for MRSA and MSSA (infections).

Please note this appointment can take between 4-5 hours so please bring entertainment and refreshments if required. We can supply free water and there is a Costa, M&S and League of Friends shop located nearby in the hospital.

Before you are admitted for surgery, you will attend the surgical admissions lounge located in the Old Building. The theatre staff will then take you to theatre to carry out your operation and you will have your own ensuite room on Barrington ward for your after-surgery care.
