Ambulatory Care Service

Ambulatory service

We provide same-day emergency care for adults in community clinics across Somerset and Yeovil Hospital. Our aim is to assess, diagnose, treat and then send you home usually on the same day, without the need to stay in a hospital bed overnight.

Although we provide emergency care, we are different from an Emergency Department (A&E). We only accept referrals from healthcare professionals using our agreed referral documentation to ensure the safe provision of care and clear clinical governance.

Our service is run by highly trained nurses who carry out a wide range of routine and advanced procedures including blood transfusions, catheter fit and removal, complex wound care, chemotherapy disconnection, chest drains and others. Usually you will be sat on a chair or a couch during your treatment, rather than lying in a bed.
