We know that the places and spaces in which we function make a difference to how we feel, therefore the role of art and design in ensuring we create the highest quality environments for our patients, staff and visitors is critical. We work closely with patients, staff, artists and architects to explore the creative potential at the earliest point in the design process.
Somerset Foundation Trust has an arts policy which includes a commitment to a ‘percent for art’ which enables new buildings and refurbishments to invest a percent of the building costs into special art and design projects. These might include enhanced glazing, seating, signage or lighting, a special reception desk, screen or art for a waiting area.
