Providing the best possible environment that supports our patients is at the heart of our work. Considering and enhancing our environments for patients suffering with dementia is increasingly important.
Working with colleagues in the Trust and using the guidelines and learning from the Kings Fund’s “Enhancing the Healing Environment” schemes we have developed and continue to roll out a programme of ward enhancements using colours and artworks that support patients to find their way around the ward and create a calm and relaxing environment.
A recent project on Gould ward involved local artist, Lorna Siviter, developing designs of Somerset Landmarks that were used in different colours within the bed bays alongside images by photographer, Tony Howells, of Somerset scenes.
