Art for Life, using our Interior Design Strategy, is actively involved in supporting refurbishment schemes, both large and small scale, within the Trust. Our involvement includes supporting the design and user groups in making decisions about colours and finishes and identifying opportunities for artworks to be integrated into the environment.
A recent refurbishment of our Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) involved commissioning Somerset artist, Angie Rooke to create landscape artworks for hanging in the Unit and to create vinyls that were needed to tackle issues of patient privacy and dignity by covering internal windows whilst providing colour and interest. Not only do the artworks add interest and colour to the environment but they have been used to creatively solve very real issues that affect our patients.
