Patients and visitors are often stressed and distracted when they arrive on site and its common for them to make judgements about the hospital based on their first impressions. That is why it is really important that the quality of the environment matches the high quality care provided to each and every patient here at Musgrove Park. We want our patients and visitors to feel welcomed to our hospital and to be able to find their way around the site without feeling more anxious than they might already feel.
In a recent project for the Acute Medical Unit, we worked with Abi Mackie and Tracy Lowrie, students from Bridgwater and Taunton College (formerly Somerset College), as part of an annual college project, to welcome and aid wayfinding to the Unit. Tracy and Abi’s designs of illustrations of flora and fauna, many of which are found in the landscape surrounding the hospital, take patients, visitors and staff on a journey through the seasons as they travel along the corridor.
