East team

Who we are

The CAMHS East team sees children and young people where there are concerns about their emotional, psychological wellbeing or mental health. If it is felt that we are the right service for you, we will work in collaboration with you and other services which may be involved in your care, to ensure we support you to achieve the best outcomes.

We use a predetermined set of outcome measures (questionnaires) to fully understand how we can best support you. We use outcome measures to support us in using the most effective therapy. These will be constantly reviewed and updated throughout your care to ensure we continue to offer you the most appropriate support to meet your needs.

We have a specialist team that are able to offer a wide variety of evidence based treatments which will be tailored to your needs.

We will be able to explain and discuss possible options with you at your appointments and talk with you about the estimated length of any treatment.

We cover all East Somerset and our bases are in Yeovil and Wells.

Who can refer and how to do it

Any professionals involved with children and teens who meet the inclusion criteria can contact the service directly.

Young people and their families can ask their GP or other professionals to refer.

Referrals have to be done via Somerset CAMHS Single Point of Access (CAMHS SPA). You can access their referral form.

Why have I been referred to this service and what can I expect?

CAMHS East can help you if you have a moderate to severe mental health difficulty.

We know you might be nervous or anxious about coming to see us for the first time, but we will do all we can to make you feel comfortable and welcomed.

We have two main clinic bases, one in Wells and another one in Yeovil, but our clinicians may also visit you in school, local GP surgeries or other suitable venues.
