Welcome to our Prehab team, we are a small but friendly bunch our team includes,
Chris – Lead Cancer Nurse
My name is Chris and I am the Lead Cancer Nurse for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, I have responsibility for Cancer strategy, workforce and the Personalised Care and Support agenda. I have overall responsibility for the delivery of the Prehab for Cancer Service across Somerset. I am based at Musgrove Park Hospital. I have been working as a nurse for over 20 years the majority within Cancer, specifically research.
Outside of work my two year old Labrador keeps me busy, I enjoy 80s music and gardening.
Barrie – Prehab Operational Lead
Carrie – Prehab Exercise Practitioner
My name is Carrie, and I have been part of the Somerset Prehab for Cancer Service since January 2023. I joined the Trust in 2009 as its first Technical Gym Instructor in the Physiotherapy Outpatients Department in Musgrove. My qualifications include; Level 4 Specialist Instructor in Postural Stability (Falls Prevention), BACPR Cardiac Rehab Specialist, Chronic Respiratory Disease and Cancer Rehabilitation.
Since January 2019 I have been involved in the formation of the following Cancer services:
-Vitality Cancer Rehab Programme
-Beacon Plungers Swimming Rehabilitation following Breast Radiotherapy” service in the Trust hydrotherapy pool.
-Be PrePaRed” Beacon Prehabilitation before Prostate Cancer Radiotherapy Pilot Project.
My interests include walking (particularly coastal paths) and going to live music.
Connor – Exercise Practitioner
My name is Connor, and I’m an Exercise Practitioner specializing in cancer services. Since September 2024, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Somerset Prehab for Cancer Service, where I support individuals through tailored exercise programs to enhance their physical well-being before their cancer treatment.
I recently joined the team after relocating from Cardiff, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science. After graduating, I spent a year working in a lymphoedema outpatient clinic.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about staying active—whether it’s playing rugby or enjoying a round of golf (especially when the weather’s on my side!).
Debbie – Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in Pelvic Health
Julie – Prehab Administrator
My name is Julie and I joined he prehab team in August 24. I have worked within the NHS for over 10 years covering the role of admin in adult and older person mental health and community district nursing. I enjoy talking to the patients and having the compasion and the understanding to help them throughout their calls.
I have my faithful black Labrador Anna, so love the outside, walking and foraging for mushrooms and fungus.
I enjoy playing music and going to gigs.
In my spare time (if I have any) I enjoy every forms of craft work and creating new projects.
