As part of our follow up support and advice after treatment, you can use this page to access a series of short videos covering topics which might be of interest to you at this time.

We hope you find the information helpful. If you feel there is anything from these videos that you would like to discuss, please contact your Macmillan Cancer Support Worker who will be able to provide further support or forward your concerns to the relevant people.

Eating well

This video is presented by an oncology dietician and a dietetic assistant from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (Acute Services) at Somerset Foundation Trust. It covers topics such as the link between diet and cancer, eating well for good health and diet myth busting.

Getting active

This video is presented by an oncology physiotherapist at Somerset Foundation Trust. It covers how to get back to activity during or following cancer treatment and gives many examples and resources to help you with this.

Fatigue

This video is presented by a Cancer Rehabilitation Instructor within the Physiotherapy team at Somerset Foundation Trust. It provides information about cancer related fatigue, including what it is, how to manage it, effective rest and accessing further support. There is also a short introduction to mindfulness.

Exploring the psychological impact of cancer after treatment

This video is presented by counsellors from the HOPE counselling service at Somerset Foundation Trust. It covers topics such as stress, recovery time, the ‘new normal’, thoughts and feelings and helpful tools and techniques.

VITALITY physiotherapy service

Vitality is a cancer rehabilitation exercise course developed to help you as you go through cancer treatment. It will help you adopt an active lifestyle and improve your physical fitness and confidence.

Vitality is held in the Physiotherapy Outpatient Department at Dene Barton Community Hospital.

Ask your Medical Team for a referral to the scheme.

SPRING physiotherapy and information at Yeovil Hospital

SPRING is an exercise and information or education group developed to help patients going through cancer treatment to improve their physical fitness and confidence.

The group is aimed at helping patients adopt an active lifestyle to maximise the health benefits that can be achieved during and after their cancer treatment.

SPRING is held in the Physiotherapy department at Yeovil Hospital and supported by highly skilled Physiotherapists and volunteers. It is a chance to meet others, learn more about healthy living and take your first steps towards creating and maintaining an active lifestyle. It is a very relaxed and friendly group to help you improve your abilities.

Look Good Feel Better charity

Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) are a charity offering face to face and virtual wellbeing workshops and classes for people living with cancer.

Face to face Skin and Make-Up workshops for women in Somerset are run regularly at Stoke-sub-Hamdon and Taunton.  Men’s face to face skincare and grooming sessions take place in Exeter.  For Teenagers and Young Adults, LGFB works with Young Lives vs Cancer, Shine Cancer Support, Teenage Cancer Trust, Teens Unite and Trekstock to offer special group sessions.

Workshops can be booked through the website, or you can ask your Cancer Support Worker for assistance.
