Endoscopy

Post sedation advice

For patients who have undergone an Endoscopy procedure.

Drugs used for sedation remain in the body for at least 24 hours and gradually wear off over time. During the 24 hours following your sedation you are under the influence of drugs, and it is very important you observe the following instructions:

• do not drive – a responsible person should accompany you home and stay with you overnight
do not drink alcohol
• do not operate machinery
• do not sign any important documents
• drink plenty of fluids
