Service
Empowering the people of Somerset to achieve lifelong musculoskeletal health and well-being through compassionate, personalised and evidence-based rehabilitation.
The team is made up of physiotherapists, osteopaths, exercise instructors and university students who work in the team as part of their training. They work closely with a range of others such as GPs, first contact practitioners (FCP), podiatrists and consultants specialising in orthopaedics, rheumatology, pain management and radiology (for X-rays and scans). The team can also provide hydrotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and injection therapy where needed, as well as access to exercise classes, such as ESCAPE Pain and ACL rehab.
The service is available to you if you are over the age of 8 and presenting with a musculoskeletal condition.
For those presenting with any conditions regarding your nervous system or breathing, please speak with your GP who will be able to refer you to the right service.
To be seen by the MSK service you can be referred by your GP/FCP at your surgery, a consultant or other health care professional. They will give you details for how to book an initial appointment with this service.
You can trial the use of the GetUBetter app, if you have had your symptoms for less than 6 weeks to see if your condition can improve with some simple advice and exercise. This can be accessed via getUBetter – An app for all common muscle, bone and joint injuries and conditions. – NHS Somerset ICB
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please visit the cancel and reschedule appointment page.
Patients are seen in a variety of locations across Somerset, including community hospital sites, Yeovil Hospital and some GP surgeries.
To support our service users, we have prepared some videos to help people manage their musculoskeletal conditions on our MSK service patient information videos page.
