Acute medical unit and surgical decisions unit at Musgrove Park Hospital and emergency assessment unit at Yeovil Hospital
The Emergency Assessment Units (EAU) at Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil Hospital are short-stay wards which enable nursing and clinical teams to assess the condition of patients admitted as an emergency before deciding on the most appropriate care and treatment that they should receive.
This is a single ward at Yeovil Hospital. At Musgrove Park Hospital, patients will be assessed in either the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) or Surgical Decisions Unit (SDU) following an initial review.
After the results of any tests undertaken have been reviewed patients will be either discharged or transferred to an appropriate ward in the hospital for further treatment.
