Chronic fatigue/ME

Our medical professionals will help you learn and understand about your chronic fatigue/ME and how it likely affects you in adulthood.

You need a good understanding of your own body and how to pace yourself.

Some topics will include:

  • how to avoid the ‘boom bust’ situations
  • what causes a set back
  • where to go for help

If you need ongoing support after the age of 17 you may be looked after by your GP or through a hospital specialist.

Your GP may consider medications/blood test if you have more difficult symptoms such as pain.

Adult ME/CFS service can offer short term intervention to support self management based on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines. This may include:

  • an online 1 to 1 assessment to discuss previous support
  • things you have already tried
  • agree a care plan based on your goals
  • online group session

A medical professional needs to refer you to the adult ME/CFS service.

Patients moving to a neighbouring hospital for their adult care may find the transition process is different. Please discuss this with those currently providing your care.
