Psychological Therapy

Someone holding another persons arm in support.

Depending on the outcome of the assessment of your needs, you may be offered a more integrative and flexible form of psychological therapy better suited to your needs. Your therapist will still develop desired goals for therapy with you, which will guide the way they work with you.

All our therapists work to professional guidelines and are accredited by professional counselling bodies such as the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). They receive regular clinical supervision to ensure you receive a safe and effective service.

Worried about someone else?

You may be concerned about the wellbeing of a friend, family member, neighbour or anybody else. It can be upsetting to see somebody else suffering psychological or emotional distress.

If you feel able, try and offer them a chance to talk about what’s going on for them. Don’t worry that you have to have advice and solutions. Very often just the change to be listened to can be of great benefit. It may help them put their worries into words and start thinking about them, rather than just feeling the anxiety. This may support them towards positive next steps or solutions to problems.

Please encourage them to make contact with us either by calling us to discuss their situation further, or by referring themselves for an assessment via the tab above, or the link below.

You may find it useful to look at some of the information on other pages of this website. Some of it may be useful for the other person, eg. the Self Help Guides. Some of it may offer you more detailed information to pass on when you talk to them, to help motivate them to think about change and about getting help. Other information may be of help for you personally in containing the worry their situation may be giving you, or the frustration of not being able to help them immediately.
